Designing for the future…

Shifting the shape of adventure for a world in transition

In this ever-changing world, we need ever-better tools. The way things look; the way we use them; the subtle touches; the ingenuity; the visible and the invisible. Often, it is the seemingly minor details that make the most impact.

Our products range from go-anywhere explorer vessels to tough-tech jackets that protect you from the elements. Yet every item we produce is engineered to the same fundamental design philosophy: the seamless unity of form and function.

Inspired by the minimalist philosophy of Dieter Rams, we design for the soul and develop for performance.

Adaptability

When the elements change, you need to adapt. We in-build functionality so our vessels, vehicles and apparel can adapt too. Systems and processes that auto-adjust. Materials that acclimatise to the elements. All designed to perform and protect, whatever the weather.

Durability

When adventures are endless, you need something you can depend on. We design to meet and exceed the highest standards in the industry, using time-tested methods and materials for ultimate reliability – so that you can meet the elements head-on, time and again.

Minimum impact

Designing for the future is our modus operandi. Guided by the UN Sustainability Goals, our focus covers the complete life cycle. We design to eliminate the superfluous and optimise the essential – because in a precious world, the more we protect, the more is left to explore.

"If you wait for the customer to tell you what to do, you’re too late. My customers didn’t want a model T, they wanted a faster horse."

Engineering

Efficiency

Capabilities are optimised through innovative construction and in-depth testing. From computer-crafted hulls to toughened fabrics, every element is engineered to maximise resources and minimise waste.

Range

We engineer to go the extra mile. Great adventures should only be limited by human possibility, not by equipment capability. From high-capacity batteries to hydrostatic waterproofing, we engineer to keep you going for longer.

Longevity

We engineer for endurance, prioritising performance at the extremes to limit their effect, with maintainability and replaceability at the centre of our philosophy to ensure adventures last a lifetime, and even beyond.

Safety & Security

There are limits in adventure, and nobody wants to exceed them. Acting as the Ark, and the Sentinel, we engineer for performance but never compromise safety and security. Our number one priority is protection from the elements.

Sound of Silence

The remoteness of adventure can be defined by purity of sound. We engineer to eliminate the artificial from every experience, from near-silent hybrid engines to garments created for minimal noise disruption.

Manufacturing

Resources

We manufacture for minimal footprint, mindful of the Earth’s precious natural resources. Our philosophy goes beyond simply avoiding environmentally sensitive materials. We are continually innovating and exploring to find a better way.

Materials

Intelligent material choices maximise the lifetime of our products. Everything we use, from aluminium alloys to timber, is selected to be the very best for the job it must achieve.

Craftsmanship

Every Arksen vessel and overland vehicle is completely hand crafted from scratch, while our apparel is made with pride in every detail. The enables us to optimise the efficient use of resources and monitor our progress every step of the way.

Partnerships

The complexity of our products demands a collaborative approach and we work with a vast array of component suppliers. All follow holistic environmental and recycling policies, ensuring unity to problem solve, invent, build and work together to a common goal.

We hire exceptional people and only work with sustainably-focused companies that are operating at the cutting edge, pioneering technologies that can help transform their industries towards the principles of a circular economy.
