Arksen P110 Perentie - Project Ituri is born

Arksen’s Overland team present the Arksen P110 ‘Project Ituri’, an ultra capable Land Rover Perentie restoration designed to take you anywhere.

The Land Rover Perentie is a legend among Land Rovers. Originally built in Australia under licence for the Australian Defence Force (ADF), the Perentie is arguably the ultimate expression of the 110 platform. Extreme ADF requirements demanded serious upgrades such as redesigning the chassis to be capable of handling repeated airlift by helicopter, and installing the unstoppable Isuzu 4BD1 3.9L motor to ensure the Perentie could just keep going no matter how tough the mission. With Project Ituri, we have gone further to create a civilian interpretation of the Perentie fit for modern age adventure. To drive Ituri is addictive. Almost everything is upgraded, it’s comfortable enough to use as a daily, the off-road capability will allow you to really explore your limits, but the Perentie’s soul lives on. It’s still an analogue machine that speaks to you and puts a smile on your face whatever the adventure. ” - Arksen Overland CEO Rich Brown

Project Ituri is fully restored from the ground up with a Arksen’s expertly curated Adventure Ready fit-out and a raft of upgrades throughout.

As part of the body-off rebuild, Ituri has been reconfigured for adventure and flexibility. Originally an FFR (fitted for radio) vehicle, the battery compartments have been repurposed to create external stowage lockers, and the vast rear load bed is now accessed via a swing gate (rather than a fixed rear end). The Arksen extra cab storage behind the front seats creates a step change in convenience and Ituri features a pair of folding crew seats in the rear allowing you to max out on gear or bring the team or family along for the ride.

Whether in the wild or in the city, from the outside Ituri is both bold and understated. Sitting on 33” 255/85 R16 tyres with black Wolf steelies and fully adjustable suspension with a 2” lift Ituri has presence. However, the Mercedes Mojave Silver metallic paint complemented / contrasted with a black Arksen canvas and accessories feels considered and confident. Ituri is purposefully not aggressive. The flash of orange front and rear in the steering guard and MaxTraxx ensure a touch of energy.

Inside two eras come together seamlessly. The addition of air conditioning, an upgraded heater, power steering, a rear view camera and a touch screen stereo with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto connectivity bring all the modern touches you expect. The black diamond stitched leather seats, Alcantara dash, central cubby and sound insulation above and below make for a comfortable and calm experience whatever the terrain and no matter how many hours you are at the wheel. Meanwhile all the original touch points are retained create a truly analogue and engaging experience; the 4spd gearbox with original design shifter, the sliding windows, the full width lever operated dash vents are all classic Perentie, but carefully uplifted with a Leather wrapped classic Land Rover / Range Rover steering wheel and crucially a car like clutch pedal effort via revised geometry.

Under the hood the Isuzu 4BD1 has been turbo charged with a carefully matched set-up to deliver approaching 700Nm / 500 lbft of torque at the flywheel, so while the Isuzu doesn’t rev high it delivers almost all its torque from idle meaning ridiculous tractability and calm progress on tricky terrain and good old fashioned fun when the going is smooth. Underneath the theme continues with upgrades front to back to deliver confidence, reliability and capability whatever the conditions. Upgraded CV joints, diffs, clutch, axles and brakes coupled with the suspension lift all deliver a real uplift in capability. And the scrub bars, steering guard, hood mounted tools and Warn winch all allow you to push your own limits.

The integrated water tank, auxiliary power and the considered design of the bespoke Arksen canvas make Ituri the ideal platform no matter the adventure. Power a fridge, or the shower for camping trips and days at the beach alike. Use the proven ADF bolt through canvas design to mount a roof rack, roof-box or roof tent directly to the underlying ROPS (Roll Over Protection System) to configure the whole vehicle for your needs (and adjust the suspension to suit with the turn of a dial). You can also transition the zippable

Arksen Canvas in the moment between fully closed, full-sized windows and fully open to suit your mood, or the weather! Even roll back the sun-roof or fully remove the canvas in minutes to fully connect with nature.

Project Ituri is currently available, for USD $109,000 ex-works excl. taxes. You can get in touch with Arksen via sales@arksen.com for more details, to enquire about other vehicles in stock OR to discuss building your own tailored Arksen Land Rover.
